New 2026: The 1000 series electric locomotives of the Dutch State Railways are based on the SBB Ae 4/6. Unlike the Swiss locomotives, they were not designed for alternating current, but for the Dutch direct current network. Originally intended for express trains between major Dutch cities, they were used almost exclusively for freight transport between 1948 and 1982. Of the ten locomotives produced, only 1010 have been preserved and can be viewed at the Utrecht Railway Museum.
