Roco 79003 - Heavy Snow Plough - ÖBB Infra - AC Digital + Sound
In 2019, ÖBB-Infrastruktur AG put a new, powerful snow blower into operation. The locomotive, which is used to clear snow-covered railway lines, is equipped with two 793 kW (approx. 1,100 hp) MAN twelve-cylinder engines. One engine powers the vehicle, the other the snow blower. The snow blower can process up to 10,000 tons of snow per hour with a throwing range of 40 meters. During transport journeys, it can reach speeds of up to 100 km/h. Thanks to its 180° swivel rim, it can turn around on the spot. This allows railway companies to cope with even the most demanding alpine weather conditions.
