The S 160 "The Yank" or "Rattlesnake" were originally war locomotives of the United States Army Transportation Corps (USATC). These locomotives were designed for worldwide use and therefore had an English loading gauge, one of the smallest for standard gauge lines. 2,120 units were built, making this class one of the most built locomotives in the world. The name "Rattlesnake" comes from the distinctive rattling sound while driving.
