The electric locomotives of the Dutch 1200 series are six-axle, heavy electric locomotives. The locomotives were developed by the American companies Westinghouse and Baldwin, but built under license in the Netherlands. A total of 25 locomotives were sold to the Dutch State Railways (NS). Characteristic of the American locomotive are its high, robust front and small cab. Most of the 1200 series locomotives were in service with NS until 1988. Today, some units are still used by museums and private railway companies.
