Piko 97506 - Electric Locomotive - NS 1000 - Blue with Logo - AC Digital + Sound
The electric locomotives of the Dutch Railways (NS) of Class 1000 are based on the SBB Ae 4/6. Unlike the Swiss locomotives, they were designed for the Dutch direct current (DC) network, not for alternating current (AC). Originally intended for express trains between major Dutch cities, they were almost exclusively used for freight trains during their service period between 1948 and 1982. Of the ten locomotives built, only number 1010 has been preserved and can be admired in the Dutch Railway Museum in Utrecht.
