Additional information for the reader

Honoring the old master. Carl Bellingrodt, born in Cologne on April 7, 1897, is undoubtedly one of the most famous German railway photographers. Even before the First World War, he had begun photographing various subjects, but soon specialized in landscape photography and, in particular, railway photography. Although he pursued photography as a hobby as a civil servant, he created over 30,000 photographs during his career, many of which are now considered classic masterpieces. In addition to his systematically produced type shots of complete series, his landscape shots and atmospherically accurate recreations of stations and their typical surroundings also achieved near-cult status. Thus, Carl Bellingrodt served as the stylist for many other railway photographers, some of whom still adopt the popular "Bellingrodt photo angles," to capture trains in the classic perspective of the old master. In memory of the pioneer of railway photography, who died in Wuppertal on September 24, 1971, and is certainly not forgotten, Märklin is producing a five-part special series of select H0 models. Each year, a locomotive featuring exquisite detailing and premium technical features will be produced as a limited one-time series. Each model comes with a decorative display case. The back wall features a matching Bellingrodt photo of the locomotive in question. A glass base is incorporated in the lower section, allowing the model to be attractively displayed. This allows for a direct comparison between the Bellingrodt photo of the prototype locomotive and the exquisite reproduction in the model. The glass front window effectively protects the locomotive from dust.
