Märklin 37265 - ET 87 - Train set - DB - Interior lighting (LED)

For the hilly route between Nieder-Salzbrun and Halbstadt in Silesia, the KPEV purchased a total of six three-unit trainsets in 1914 to better handle the steadily increasing passenger numbers in this region. Initially designated ET501-506, the trainsets had a visually striking design that complemented the then-common express train carriages with skylights, drawbars, and recessed doors. The power car, centrally positioned between the two control cars, guaranteed smooth running on winding routes. When passenger numbers in Halbstadt, now Czech Republic, declined after the First World War, the trainsets, now designated ET 87, were redistributed to other routes. After 1932, they were given the attractive cream and red livery of the DRG trainsets. Just in time, three sets were transported to Bavaria in 1945. There, they were refurbished and painted in the new livery of the DB trainsets. The focus of their deployment was now on suburban service in Nuremberg, primarily on the electrified routes to Fürth and Altdorf. In 1959, the last of the remaining ET 87s was retired. Unfortunately, they were all scrapped.
