About the locomotive: The 'Frog' - a unique loner of the Deutsche Reichsbahn (DR/GDR). Steam locomotive 18 314 of the Deutsche Reichsbahn (DR) of the GDR, which was later nicknamed 'Bark' (Frog), has had an extraordinary life. Once, in 1919, it was put into service in Baden as a runner type IVh, it then entered service with the DRG with number 18 314. After the end of the Second World War, the locomotive was exchanged for an S3/6 because the later VES-M in Halle urgently needed a fast coupled four-cylinder steam locomotive for test runs and thus ended up in the Soviet zone. In order to make it even faster, it was equipped with a Reko boiler, partial streamlining and a new driver's cab in 1960. It was also given a green paint scheme. The conversion to an oil-fired installation in 1967 put the finishing touches on it. At the end of 1971 she was taken out of service and in 1984 she moved to the FRG through sale. Since 1986 she has been on long-term loan to the HEF as a showpiece in the Auto- en Techniekmuseum in Sinsheim.
