Märklin 3150 – RAm "Northlander" Ontario Northland Diesel Train Set

Very limited and very exclusive. Limited edition of 5,000 pieces. This is number 199 (see certificate).

4-piece train set of the Canadian Ontario Northland Railway (ONR). Era IV.
Model is analog with DCM motor. With alternating 3-point front signal and 2-point red tail signal. Train is equipped with interior lighting. Released in 1978.

Condition: Very good – Complete with original packaging and manuals.
Packaging shows signs of wear.

Prototype: Five train sets of the Dutch/Swiss TRANS-EUROP-EXPRESS were built, of which 2 for the SBB with operating numbers 501, 502, and 503, and for the NS, operating numbers DE 1001 to 1003. These latter train sets operated on the Amsterdam – Zurich route as TEE "Edelweiss". After an SBB train was damaged in an accident in 1971, the 2nd SBB train and the 3 NS trains were sold to the Canadian Ontario Northland in 1976/77 and converted according to North American regulations. Around 1980, the locomotives were fitted with heavier engines (manufacturer General Motors). These were more resistant to the severe Canadian winters. Under the name "Northlander", the 3 "TEEs" continued to operate until 1992. In 1997, the train sets were brought back to Europe by the TEE Classics Association. The train sets remained in the port of Hamburg for months because they could not be transported further due to the American wheel profile. The TEE Netherlands Foundation has since transported the five coaches returned to Europe to Zwolle on June 25/26, 2006. Shortly before the 50th anniversary of the Trans Europ Express (June 2, 2007), the front of one of the control cars was repainted in the old red TEE color (Source 3rail).

This set is a valuable addition for collectors and model railway enthusiasts interested in North American diesel trains and limited edition releases. The combination of detailed engineering, historical livery, and rarity makes this a special collector's item.
