Märklin 36187 - INSIDER - BR 193 "Vectron" - Märklin Special

For the birthday
Metal Visions: Theodor Friedrich Wilhelm Märklin *April 2, 1817 † December 20, 1866 When little Theodor Friedrich Wilhelm first saw the light of day on April 2, 1817, in Tieringen near Balingen, no one could have imagined that he would later become the founder of one of the world's most famous toy companies. The skills he had acquired as a precision metalworker and his vision of creating something new were the driving force behind this man's decision to establish a company in 1859. This company produced not only standard cookware and cutlery, but also miniature replicas. The fully functional doll kitchens he produced prepared girls for their roles, still firmly assigned to them in the 19th century, as future housewives and mothers. Marriage to his second wife, Caroline (Hettich was her maiden name), was a true blessing in many ways for Theodor Friedrich Wilhelm Märklin and the further development of the Märklin company. She supported her husband in the further development and sales of tin toys for girls in a way that was highly unusual for that time. After her husband's sudden death on December 20, 1866, she also took on the difficult task of running the company herself until her sons Karl and Eugen were old enough to establish the company "Gebroeders Märklin" and finally venture into the world of model railways. With the Märklin model 36187 "200 Years of TFW Märklin," the entire company aims to pay tribute to the founder and build a bridge between his brilliant ideas and today's "high-tech" model railways, which likely wouldn't exist without him.
